interview-blog.de: Paul, what is Zelfo ?
Paul Benhaim: The material made from a variety of fibers through the Zelfo process.
interview-blog.de: What is the Zelfo Process?
Paul Benhaim: A process patented in Europe and North America to create a solid and technically advanced mouldable material from fibres and waste fibres.
The Zelfo process takes a wide variety of raw fibres such as sugar-cane, paper or hemp. The fibres are mixed with water and other natural additives, without the use of resins or glues. Zelfo is sprayed or pressed into a form or mould. The material may be finished, screwed, glued and treated as hard wood. In the Zelfo process, the raw materials are ground with water and optional additives. The material is then moulded in a unique way designed specifically for the Zelfo product.
Various moulding techniques are used and depend on the product to be produced and may involve pressure, interim drying, wetting and reshaping allowing for more complex geometries, and dimensional precision.
Depending on the requirements, a pre-coating can be applied. The product is then dried slowly to the required density and stiffness.
Our factory recycles 85% of its water usage. Our process is run on Green power. Zelfo is not injection mouldable.
